The Berrien County Democratic Party (BCDP) is a grassroots, volunteer-powered local Democratic Party. While BCDP is associated with the Michigan Democratic Party (MDP), it is not funded by the MDP or Democratic National Committee (DNC). Despite this, we've steadily expanded our impact— growing our membership by 110% since 2017. Monthly meeting attendance has surged, weekly protests in St. Joseph draw 70–100 participants, and our “Hands Off” rally drew over 1,500 attendees—clear signs that Democratic momentum in Berrien County is growing rapidly.

That energy is translating into results. From 2022 to 2024, the number of BCDP-endorsed candidates on local ballots jumped from 12 to 22—an 83% increase. In 2024, Berrien County was one of just three counties in Michigan to shift left, even as the state trended right overall. Our endorsed candidates won township trustee and clerk positions, and State Rep. Joey Andrews became the first Democrat in 60 years to be re-elected to the State House from Berrien County. Looking ahead to 2026, we’re raising funds now to prepare for key elections—from the State House to the Governor’s office, and open U.S. Senate and House seats.
