Apathy Will Dismantle Our Country
The U.S. Constitution, a document that has guided our nation for over 200 years, has been undermined in a matter of weeks. The Trump-Musk alliance has ignored long-standing laws and protocols to consolidate power in the presidency, bypassing checks and balances.
The recent actions of the Trump administration raise alarming parallels to historical authoritarian regimes, notably Nazi Germany. The establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by an unelected billionaire with unchecked authority, mirrors the centralization of power characteristic of totalitarian states.
Furthermore, the administration's dehumanizing rhetoric, such as referring to political opponents as "vermin," echoes language used by fascist leaders to marginalize and oppress groups.
The dismissal of federal employees who resist these changes, coupled with threats against media and public officials, undermines democratic institutions and recalls tactics employed by oppressive regimes.
The greatest threat to our democracy isn’t just this blatant power grab—it’s apathy. History warns us of what happens when citizens fail to act. If we don’t resist now, fear will soon replace indifference, and reversing course will be far more difficult.
Outrage is the antidote. But to feel outrage, we must first care. The time to act is now. Please do your part.
