Jessica Gomez is ready to serve the citizens of District 12
In our final candidate profile before Election Day, we’re taking a look at Jessica Gomez, who’s running for the chance to serve the people of Niles as Berrien County Commissioner for District 12. As a first-time political candidate but long-time community activist, Jessica brings a steadfast commitment to community engagement and representing the interests of Niles’ constituents, and is eager to champion the progress that the people of Niles need.
Jessica hails from the Midwest, but has built a diverse professional background that has uniquely equipped her for this role. She has over a decade of sales experience and a bachelor’s degree in foreign language, and through her work as a logistics account manager, she has honed invaluable skills in account management, communication, and contract negotiation. Jessica has also spent extensive time studying and living abroad, immersing herself in the cultures of Costa Rica, Mexico, and Spain, which has helped imbue her with a global perspective, cultivate a deep appreciation for diverse viewpoints and a collaborative, adaptable approach to leadership, and sharpen her ability to creatively solve problems that will be essential in addressing the complex challenges facing Berrien County. Now, she’s working hard to bring this rich experience to bear in service of the Niles community, working hand-in-hand with residents to enact the progress our people and county deserve.
If elected as District 12’s County Commissioner, Jessica’s top priority is to serve the Niles community with the utmost integrity and provide residents with the reliable resources they need to thrive. Whether that’s by securing funding for critical infrastructure improvements, advocating for enhanced social services, or amplifying the diverse voices of the Niles community, Jessica is committed to being a transparent, accountable, and accessible leader who puts the needs of the people first. This is more than a simple professional priority for her; on a personal level, Jessica deeply understands the struggles and challenges that so many of Berrien County’s families grapple with each day, having juggled student loan and mortgage payments herself, a shared experience that allows her to empathize with her neighbors' concerns and ensures that she will tirelessly advocate for the needs and interests of her constituents. She was also raised believing in the power and importance of giving a voice to the voiceless and standing up against injustice wherever she found it, and it is this moral compass that will guide her actions as District 12’s County Commissioner. Jessica Gomez pledges to be a champion for the underserved and is ready to tackle the tough issues head-on, and with an unwavering commitment to progress and a steadfast dedication to the people, she’s prepared to be the County Commissioner that Niles needs.
